Solid Modeling, Design Packages & CNC Machine Control

Our engineers use SOLIDWORKS Professional to increase design productivity through file management tools, advanced photorealistic rendering, automated cost estimation, eDrawings® Professional collaboration capabilities, automated design and drawing checking, and a sophisticated components and parts library.

Solid modeling is an area of expertise that allows for the automation of difficult engineering calculations carried out during design. Once the part is modeled it is possible to simulate and verify processes such as machining and assembly.  It is also possible to automate programming for CNC machining centers and for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), which are then used to precisely inspect the machined components against the solid model.

Solid modeling is additionally used to design innovative manufacturing and handling fixtures.  Using the solid-modeled part, the fixture or handling device can be optimized before the part is even constructed.  The end result is near perfect designs that are intuitive to use and very efficient to construct.

Unitech uses the latest version of Mastercam CAD/CAM software to program our CNC mills, lathes and EDM wires. Mastercam’s fully associative toolpaths enable us to efficiently make changes without slowing down. Updated Stock Modeling, Toolpath Verification, and Simulation features provide increased confidence on every project. Once a part is programmed, no matter how complex, any element can be modified, and toolpaths are immediately updated.
