Unitech’s wide range of machinery offer capabilities to manufacture components with cost effective precision. The primary metals we machine are hot and cold rolled carbon steels, specialty tool steels, stainless steels and aluminum. We machine castings, bars stock, plates and special extruded shapes. With improvements in material science over the past decade, machining specialty plastics has become a larger share of our business.
The CNC Lathe Department features both live-tool and multiple spindle CNC turning centers. CNC turning projects are either bar fed (material is automatically fed in bar lengths) or chucking projects (castings or material blanks are individually loaded). A variety of bar feeders and part-offloading accumulators enable unattended operation.
The CNC Milling Department includes 30, 40 and 50 taper machining centers in a variety of spindle speeds and drives, 3 and 4 axis milling and a range of table sizes. Small 30 taper balanced tool holders enable high speed milling at 10,000 rpm and above and excel at machining aluminum. Large 50 taper tool holders firmly clamp slab cutters and end mills when extreme power is needed to machine tool steels at slower RPM. CNC milling projects are typically 3 or 4 axis components manufactured from cut bar, plate or raw castings.
Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), or Wire Machining is indispensable for holding very tight tolerances in hardened materials with complex 2-dimensional shapes. Extreme accuracy is especially useful for manufacturing fixtures and dies.
